Professor Ahmed Muhammed Gumel has been appointed as the 4th Substantive Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Dutse.
This announcement was made by the University’s Director of Public Affairs, Abdullahi Yahaya Bello, in a press statement issued in Dutse.
The statement quoted Professor Shuaibu Oba Abdulraheem, Chairman of the Governing Council, who praised the thorough selection process that narrowed down 21 candidates to select Professor Gumel as the top choice. He congratulated the new Vice Chancellor and offered prayers for his success in office.
On his part, Professor Gumel expressed gratitude to Allah and thanked the selection committee, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, and the entire council for their confidence in him. He emphasized his commitment to building upon the achievements of his predecessor.
An alumnus of University Malaya, Professor Gumel holds a Master’s and Ph.D. in Biotechnology, alongside multiple degrees and certifications. A respected researcher with numerous publications and patents, he joined Federal University Dutse in 2015 and has held several key administrative roles, most recently as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Central Administration.
Renowned for his transformational leadership, Professor Gumel has received over 34 awards for his contributions to the university and beyond. He is married and has children.
“This appointment marks a new chapter for the Federal University Dutse as it continues to advance its academic and research mission,” the statement concluded.
