The Supreme Court today affirmed the death sentences of Abdulmajid Hassan and Adamu Audu for separate incidents of murder by stabbing that occurred in Jigawa State.

The Jigawa State Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Bello Abdulkadir Fanini, announced this in a statement.

“On this day, April 10, 2026, I led a team of State Counsels to the Supreme Court of Nigeria in Abuja for its judgment regarding suits no. SC/CR/2020/69 and SC/CR/70/2020. These are two criminal appeals against convictions for separate murder incidents committed by Abdulmajid Hassan and Adamu Audu,” the Attorney-General stated.

The Supreme Court’s ruling reaffirms the death sentences previously handed down by the Jigawa State High Court and upheld by the Court of Appeal. This landmark decision emphasizes the judiciary’s commitment to uphold the law and reinforces that criminal activities in Jigawa State will face stringent consequences.

Barrister Fanini extended gratitude to Governor Malam Umar Namadi for his continuous support, which empowers the Ministry to execute its responsibilities effectively.

“The Ministry of Justice remains dedicated to safeguarding the lives and properties of all citizens in Jigawa State, in alignment with the administration’s 12-Point Agenda for a more peaceful and prosperous society,” the Commissioner added.
