Jigawa Approves Over N97Million for Training of 2,600 Hisbah Personnel

The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the release of Ninety-Seven Million, Seven Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira (₦97,710,000.00) for the training of Two Thousand Six Hundred Hisbah Personnel across the state.

The State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this during a press briefing after the State Executive Council meeting.

He stated that the training program is designed to enhance the operational capacity and effectiveness of the Hisbah Board by equipping personnel with modern skills and improving coordination among officers at all levels.

Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed explained that the beneficiaries are expected to apply their new skills to improve operational efficiency and service delivery in line with contemporary standards.

In addition, the Commissioner announced the formation of a Review Committee for the Dutse Master Plan 2050.

He said the committee, was constituted in response to presentations from the Ahmadu Bello University Consultancy Services Limited (ABUCOS), and will be chaired by the Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Alhaji Ahmed Kaugama.

The committee members consists four former Commissioners of Lands: Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, Ahmed Garba MK, Ahmed Kanta AK, Dr. Nura Ibrahim Kazaure, and Muhammad Alhassan.

The committee is tasked with harmonizing the report to ensure that the final plan reflects the aspirations of both the government and the citizens. The committee has four weeks to present its report.

Furthermore, the Commissioner revealed that the State Executive Council has approved the release of  Two Hundred Million Naira (₦279,699,524.23) for the implementation of Phase II preparatory activities of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) Programme.

This initiative, developed in partnership with the Federal Government and the African Development Bank, aims to stimulate agricultural industrialization and economic growth in Jigawa State.

Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed noted that these preparatory activities are crucial for attracting private sector investment in agro-processing and enhancing agricultural productivity, thereby creating sustainable job opportunities, particularly for the youth.

“These initiatives align with His Excellency, Malam Umar A. Namadi FCA’s 12-Point Agenda for sustainable urban development, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to transparency, stakeholder participation, and inclusive growth,” the Commissioner stated.
