The Jigawa State government will provide over 8 million meals to those in need during this year’s Ramadan fasting.
Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi made this known while flagging off this year’s Ramadan package distribution for civil servants in the State held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Dutse. The feeding program, which has already commenced across the state, aims to ensure that no one goes hungry during this sacred month.
Governor Namadi highlighted the vital role of civil servants in delivering the benefits of democracy to the populace. This initiative includes a welfare package for 6,200 civil servants, featuring staples such as rice, beans, and spaghetti.
Additionally, the program will support Tsangaya Islamic Schools by providing meals to 552 selected schools. A total of 640 feeding centers have been established across 27 local government areas, aiming to serve over 264,600 people daily throughout Ramadan.
The Governor urged the public to embrace the spirit of compassion during Ramadan by assisting those in need, emphasizing the significance of community support during this holy month.
Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, the Jigawa State Head of the Civil Service, expressed gratitude to Governor Namadi for this generous gesture, stating, โIt is a clear reflection of your governmentโs commitment to the well-being of its workforce and the promotion of a harmonious working environment.โ
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Establishment and Service Matters, Alhaji Muhammad Yahaya Jabo, the HOS reaffirmed the commitment of the State Civil Servants to ensure effective implementation of the governmentโs 12-point agenda and all policies aimed at enhancing the welfare of the people in Jigawa State.
He also commended the Governor for his ongoing efforts to improve civil servants’ welfare since taking office.
