The Jigawa State House of Assembly has passed a budget of N901.841 billion for 2026, endorsing Governor Umar Namadi’s proposal, titled “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa II.”
The budget, presented to the Assembly on November 25, 2025, allocates a significant 77% for capital projects, with a strong focus on education (over 26%) and agriculture, aimed at enhancing development in the state.
Speaker Jigawa State House of Assembly Right Honourable Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin announced the budget’s passage during a plenary session on Tuesday, confirming that it has been approved as submitted.
He highlighted that the capital expenditure totals N693.4 billion, which is intended to drive infrastructure growth and development.
“This budget reflects a 19.2% increase from the previous year, underscoring the state’s commitment to progress”
Dangyatin emphasized, “We’re committed to ensuring Jigawa develops rapidly,” with a particular focus on infrastructure development, including roads and energy projects, to improve lives and stimulate economic growth.
The Assembly commended Namadi’s focus on innovation and transformation as key priorities for the state’s future.
