BREAKING: U.S. Confirms Anti-Terror Strikes in Sokoto, Nigeria

The United States has confirmed that an operation targeting terrorists in Nigeria took place in Sokoto State. President Donald Trump announced that U.S. forces bombed terrorist positions in North-West Nigeria, though he did not provide specific details regarding the location of the incident.

Nigerian authorities have not commented on the operation. However, an eyewitness from Jabo town in Tambuwal Local Government Area reported a loud explosion that caused panic among residents. “I was at home when we heard a loud sound that shook some of our houses. An explosive device hit the ground on the outskirts of Jabo town and burst into flames,” said Attahiru Madawaki Jabo.

The U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), responsible for military operations on the continent, identified Sokoto State as the target of the airstrikes. In a series of posts on social media, AFRICOM stated that the strikes were conducted at the request of Nigerian authorities, resulting in the elimination of multiple ISIS terrorists.

“Lethal strikes against ISIS demonstrate the strength of our military and our commitment to eliminating terrorist threats against Americans at home and abroad,” AFRICOM added. The strikes occurred on December 25, 2025, under the direction of the U.S. President and Secretary of War, in coordination with Nigerian authorities.
