The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, VP Dahiru Muhammad, has embarked on a stakeholders engagement tour across Hadejia, Kazaure, Gumel, and Ringim Emirate Councils, aims to enhance community-focused policing.
In a press statement issued by the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, it was revealed that the Commissioner met with traditional rulers during his visits. He sought their guidance and support in maintaining peace and security, acknowledging them as custodians of the people. The Commissioner assured the royal fathers of the Command’s commitment to collaborating with traditional institutions to prevent crime, resolve conflicts, and foster peaceful coexistence.
The tour included a strategic security meeting with Local Government Chairmen. During this session, the Commissioner emphasized that security is a shared responsibility, urging closer collaboration and timely information sharing to ensure community safety.
Additionally, the Commissioner held interactive sessions with stakeholders, encouraging dialogue to resolve farmer/herder conflicts and requesting credible information to combat crime. He also urged ongoing partnerships in the fight against drug-related issues.
Addressing officers at Area Command offices, the Commissioner assessed operational realities and emphasized the importance of professionalism, ethical conduct, and respect for human rights. He reminded officers of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun’s commitment to their welfare and urged them to uphold the rule of law.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to community-oriented and intelligence-led policing, calling on residents to support the police with useful information. A safer Jigawa State, he noted, can only be achieved through collaborative efforts between the police and the public.
