The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested suspected thieves and drug dealers, along with the recovery of stolen items and illicit substances.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Dutse by SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, the Command Spokesperson.
On December 31, 2025, at approximately 15:20 hrs, operatives from the Kirikasamma Division apprehended one Mohd Yarima, a 23-year-old male from Bulanceri village. He was found in possession of a black Bajaj motorcycle without registration and a bag of fertilizer suspected to be stolen from Gayin village. The suspect admitted to stealing the motorcycle and fertilizer after the owner parked them outside his residence. Investigations are ongoing to recover additional stolen items and identify receivers.
In a related incident on January 1, 2026, police operatives in Kazaure Local Government Area arrested Yahuza Garba, a 46-year-old male from Yammakada Quarters, following reports of theft at the Informatics Institute Kazaure. Recovered items include 50 pieces of stolen window glass, two air conditioners, and aluminum burglar proofs. The suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue to identify accomplices.
Coordinated operations in Gumel, Maigatari, Sara, and Gujungu towns led to the arrest of several drug dealers: Sadik Yahaya (aka Dan dage), Musa Isiyaku (17 years), Dauda Yakubu (18 years), Auwalu Lado (20 years), and Habibu Abdullahi (30 years). Authorities seized two blocks of cannabis sativa and 2,188 assorted illicit drugs, including Diazepam, Exol, D5, Tramadol, rubber solution, and “suck and die,” among others.
The statement emphasized that all suspects will be charged in court following the conclusion of investigations.
