A tragic accident occurred on Thursday in Beguwa village, Ringim Local Government Area (LGA), resulting in the deaths of 11 passengers and leaving 9 others hospitalized. The incident involved a red Golf 3 saloon, registered LNG 983 XA JOS, driven by a 45-year-old man from Randawa village, Mani LGA, Katsina State.
The vehicle was transporting 20 passengers—6 males, 8 females, and 6 children—from Masaka village, Ningi LGA, Bauchi State, to Dutsi village, Mani LGA, Katsina State. The driver lost control after the front tire burst, causing the car to crash into a tree.
According to Shi’isu Lawan Adam, spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police Command, the surviving passengers and the driver were promptly admitted to the nearest hospital and are receiving treatment.
The Jigawa State Police Command urges all motorists and road users to follow traffic regulations, avoid speeding and overloading, and check their vehicles before embarking on journeys. Strong measures will be taken against those found violating traffic laws.
The Commissioner of the Jigawa State Command, CP Muhammad Dahiru, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the recovery of those injured.
