The Jigawa State Government has earmarked over one billion naira for the renovation of Government Unity College Birnin Kudu.
Governor Umar Namadi announced this during the BIKOBA Annual General Meeting held at the college conference hall.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim, the Governor emphasized that the funding is included in the proposed 2026 budget.
He highlighted the importance of giving the historic college a modern outlook, reflecting its significance to the nation.
Governor Namadi noted that educational development is a top priority for the state government, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of its citizens.
He also expressed gratitude to BIKOBA for honoring him with an award and for organizing the meeting at the college.
Earlier, the National President of BIKOBA, Dr. Jafar Usman Muhammed (Turakin Gaya), urged the Jigawa State Government to focus on essential renovations, including the computer center, reconstruction of hostels gutted by fire, staff quarters, and improvements to dilapidated classrooms and toilets.
In his remarks, the college director, Malam Bashir Inuwa, appreciated the Jigawa State Government, BIKOBA, and other notable figures for their commitment to the development of the historic institution.
