Governor Malam Umar Namadi has praised the peaceful and successful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Congress in Jigawa State, describing the event as orderly, transparent, and conducted entirely by consensus in line with the party’s constitutional provisions.
In a press statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Malam Hamisu Muhammed Gumel, the governor expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for guiding the party throughout the process.
โWe thank Almighty God for assisting us in managing the affairs of Jigawa State,โ he stated.
Governor Namadi explained that the congress process began at the ward level, progressed to the local government stage, and culminated at the state level, all conducted through consensus among party members.
โToday, we conducted three elections in Jigawa State: at the ward level, at the local government level, and today, by the grace of God, at the state level. All these elections were conducted peacefully and concluded without incident,โ he added.
The governor described the seamless exercise as a testament to unity within the APC in Jigawa State, noting that the absence of acrimony or complaints highlights the maturity and solidarity among party stakeholders.
โAs the APC at the state level, we will continue to work collaboratively. Today’s events demonstrate that the APC in Jigawa State is one united party, and all who participated are part of us,โ he remarked.
He expressed special appreciation to party elders and leaders who participated in the congress, including the Minister of State for Education, serving and former members of the National and State Assemblies, and community stakeholders, along with the enthusiastic supporters of the APC.
Governor Namadi also extended his thanks to the national party delegation that oversaw the election process, commending their efforts in ensuring a peaceful and credible exercise.
Addressing the newly elected executives, Governor Namadi emphasized that their emergence through consensus reflects the trust placed in them by party members.
โTo the elected leaders, recognize that this is a trust you have accepted on behalf of the people of Jigawa State. Each of you took an oath here to be just and not show favoritism. Therefore, be fair to all party members. Injustice breeds division and conflict in party affairs,โ he warned.
He underscored the importance of fairness and adherence to the party constitution in sustaining unity, highlighting that injustice can lead to internal discord within political organizations.
In his remarks, newly elected state party chairman Ahmed Garba MK expressed deep gratitude to the party and the governor for the opportunity to serve.
โWe thank the party and His Excellency for entrusting us with this responsibility. We are deeply grateful, and we assure you that we will work diligently to secure the partyโs success in all upcoming elections,โ he stated.
He pledged, on behalf of all elected officials, to fulfill their duties with dedication and excellence, ensuring the party continues to dominate the political landscape in the state.
The Chairman noted that Jigawa State has one of the highest numbers of registered APC members in Nigeria, attributing this success to Governor Namadiโs inclusive leadership and grassroots mobilization efforts.
He further stated that since its formation in 2014, the APC has won every gubernatorial election in the state, indicating the party’s enduring popularity.
While reaffirming party discipline, he issued a clear warning against dual party loyalty.
โAnyone holding two membership cardsโclaiming to belong to both the APC and the ADCโmust choose one. You can either belong to the ADC or the APC; you cannot belong to both. We are aware of these individuals and assure you that we will take firm action with the full authority of the party.โ
