Former Minister of Defence,ย  Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has ramped up high-level political consultations to strengthen unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State and the North-West region as the 2027 general elections approach.

According to a Press Statement issued by the Ex-Minister’s Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mati Ali, the statement explained that since returning to Nigeria in early February 2026 from his year-end vacation abroad, the former Minister has renewed efforts to consolidate party cohesion, deepen grassroots mobilization, and build strategic momentum for the elections. His focus remains on securing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The statement said, Badaru expressed regret over internal leadership disputes among certain elected officials within the APC, which detract from core governance priorities and long-term political planning. He emphasized that these issues weaken election preparations and undermine the effective advancement of Tinubuโ€™s agenda.

In contrast, Badaru has demonstrated unwavering loyalty to Tinubuโ€™s administration, as shown during a recent gathering in his hometown of Babura, where he received his validated APC membership registration card. The overwhelming turnout reflected strong grassroots support for his commitment to securing Tinubuโ€™s re-election.

Recognizing that political success requires inclusive engagement, Badaru has extended consultations beyond party lines, hosting prominent political leaders from across the political spectrum at his residences in Abuja and Kano. Notable attendees included former PDP gubernatorial candidate Mustapha Sule Lamido, Senators Sabo Mohammed Nakudu and Ubali Shitu, and Mallam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim.

These high-level engagements underscore his commitment to dialogue and mutual understanding, aimed at advancing national development and consolidating broad-based support for Tinubu ahead of 2027.

Badaruโ€™s leadership as Regional Coordinating Chairman (North) during the 2023 APC Presidential Campaign was instrumental in securing significant voter support for Tinubu, with approximately 421,390 votes in Jigawa State and about 2,652,235 votes across the seven North-West states, contributing to approximately 30% of Tinubuโ€™s national total.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, Badaru remains dedicated to promoting unity, strengthening democratic values, and mobilizing support to ensure the continued success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the advancement of Nigeriaโ€™s national development agenda.
