The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Jigawa State Command has intercepted six suspected victims of trafficking at the Tsamiyar Ilu Patrol Base in Kazaure Local Government Area, Jigawa State.
In a press statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASI AM Salim, it was revealed that the victims were attempting to sneak into the Niger Republic for onward journeys to Europe.
The statement disclosed that all the victims are females aged between 20 and 26 years, hailing from various states, including Nasarawa, Kaduna, Benue, Osun, Oyo, and Kogi.
The officer further explained that the victims were handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further interviews, profiling, and reunification with their families.
