The Jigawa State Local Government Service Commission has promoted 1,682 staff across the State in 2025.
The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Uba Bala Ringim, made this announcement during a briefing on the Commission’s achievements, held at the Commission’s conference hall in Dutse.
Additionally, the Commission reported that 1,332 staff were retired, and 155 lost their lives during the period under review.
Alhaji Uba Bala outlined the Commission’s mandate, which includes appointments, promotions, discipline of local government staff, capacity building, and compliance with civil service rules.
Of the promoted staff, 569 were from Jigawa Central, 624 from Jigawa North-West, and 489 from Jigawa North-East. In terms of retirements, 628 staff from local government councils and 704 from the Local Education Authority (LEA) retired.
The Commission reported that 72 local government council staff and 83 LEA staff lost their lives in 2025. Chairman Ringim highlighted challenges such as delays in promotion exercises, poor records management, inadequate manpower, and limited training opportunities in modern personnel and human resource management practices. He also commended Governor Malam Umar Namadi for his support to the Commission, permanent commissioners, and all staff.
