The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a positive relationship with the media, promoting press freedom, and encouraging best practices in journalism within the state.

Speaking at the distribution of the Ramadan palliative to members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano Council, Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, emphasized the initiative as part of the Abba Kabir Yusuf led administration’s efforts to support various stakeholders.

He stated, “This initiative recognizes the crucial role journalists play in disseminating information and educating the public, fostering an informed society where democracy thrives.”

The palliative is designated for all categories of NUJ members in the state.

Responding, the NUJ Chairman, Kano State Council, Comrade Suleiman Abdullahi Dederi commended the government and the commissioner for their support, assuring that the provisions would be fairly distributed among union members.

This gesture aims to strengthen the ongoing collaboration between the government and journalists in Kano.
