NUJ Jigawa Mourns Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Sani II

The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Jigawa State Council, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the death of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Sani II.

In a statement signed by the Council Secretary, Comrade Aminu Umar Shuwajo, the Council described the death as a great loss, not only to the late Emirโ€™s family, the Gumel Emirate and Jigawa State, but also to the entire Muslim Ummah.

The 16th Emir of the ancient and historic Gumel Emirate died at the age of 87 in Cairo, Egypt, while on a medical trip. He ascended the throne on December 16, 1980, during the administration of the then Governor of old Kano State, the late Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Rimi and reigned for nearly 46 years.

The Council noted that the late Emir dedicated his life to the service of humanity and made significant contributions to the promotion of peace, education, cultural values and community development, as well as the moral and intellectual advancement of the people of Jigawa State and the nation at large.

The NUJ Jigawa State Council extends its heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late emir, the Jigawa State government, and theย  Council of Chiefs over the demise of the late Emir of Gumel.

The Council prays that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, grants him eternal rest and admits him into Jannatul Firdaus.
