The Jigawa State Government, has announced the death of the 16th Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Sani, CON.
The Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim made the announcement while briefing journalists in his office.
“The Jigawa State Government regret to announce, with profound sorrow the passing of His Highness, the Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Sani, CON. Born on 12th December, 1942, the revered monarch passed away this afternoon in Cairo, Egypt, after a protracted illness” the SSG said.
Throughout his remarkable reign of 46 years, His Highness Emir Ahmed Muhammad Sani, CON, who ascended the throne in 1980, dedicated his life to the service and betterment of his people.
The 16th Emir of Gumel, was a beacon of wisdom, offering invaluable counsel and tirelessly working towards improving health outcomes, increasing school enrollment, and fostering peace and security across the state. His legacy of commitment to progress and community welfare will be deeply missed.
The Jigawa State Government extends its deepest condolences to the Royal family, the people of Gumel Emirate, the State’s Council of Chiefs, and all citizens of Jigawa State during this period of immense grief.
Details regarding the funeral arrangements will be announced by the Emir’s palace and communicated to the public in due course.
