The Jigawa State Steering Committee on the Polling Unit Development Fund has reaffirmed its commitment to the effective implementation of the program across the state, emphasizing prudence, fairness, and accountability.
According to a Press Statement issued by spokesperson of the Ministry for Local Governments, Najib Umar, stated that, the Chairman of the Committee, who is also the Commissioner, Ministry for Local Governments and Community Development, Ibrahim Garba Hannun-Giwa, gave the assurance, during an advocacy visit to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Hadejia and Chairman of the Jigawa State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje in his palace. The visit sought royal father’s blessings and aimed to strengthen stakeholder support for the successful rollout of the initiative.
Alhaji Ibrahim Hannun-Giwa explained that the program is aimed to enhance government accessibility to grassroots communities, allowing for prompt responses to the needs of those in hard-to-reach areas, which emphasized that aligns with the core priorities of Governor Umar A. Namadi.
Responding, the Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar maje, expressed gratitude to Allah and commended Governor Namadi for the programme’s reintroduction. He emphasized its potential to significantly aid communities in addressing immediate and critical development needs. The Emir urged citizens to utilize the fund judiciously to tackle pressing societal challenges and expressed confidence in the integrity and professionalism of the Steering Committee members.
The team, led by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Distinguished Senator Mustapha Makama Kiyawa, also engaged with stakeholders, including, seven-member Local Government Standing Committees from all eight Local Government Areas within the Hadejia Emirate. The session focused on grievance redress mechanisms, with valuable inputs documented and addressed.
