The Kano State Police Command has begun an investigation into the horrific murder of Fatima Abubakar and her six children, allegedly by unknown assailants in Dorayi, Chiranchi Quarters.
In a statement released today by the Command Spokesperson CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa reported that the police received a distress call around 12:10 PM on January 17, 2026, regarding a violent attack on the household of Haruna Bashir.
The victims, Fatima Abubakar (35) and her six children, suffered fatal injuries from attacks with dangerous weapons. In response, Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori mobilized a police team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police in Charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani, to the scene.
The bodies of the victims were transported to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, where they were pronounced dead. A specialized team led by ACP Wada Jarma, Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been assigned to conduct a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The police command extends its condolences to the victims’ family and the community of Dorayi Chiranchi and Kano State.
