In a gesture aimed at supporting grassroots transport operators, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Jigawa State on Student Affairs, Ambassador Muhammad Salisu Seeker, has distributed vehicle tyres worth ₦3.5 million to commercial drivers operating at Sabuwar Tasha Motor Park in Dutse, Jigawa State.
The distribution exercise, which took place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, benefitted 25 commercial drivers, with each recipient receiving two brand-new tyres valued at ₦70,000 per tyre, bringing the total number of tyres distributed to 50.
The intervention was specifically targeted at drivers who voluntarily displayed banners bearing the photographs of the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Mallam Umar Namadi, FCA, alongside that of the sponsor of the tyre distribution, as a show of support for the current administration.
Speaking during the event, Amb. Muhammad Salisu Seeker explained that the initiative was designed to encourage and appreciate commercial drivers for their consistent support in promoting the policies and achievements of the Jigawa State Government across the state.
He emphasized that the gesture was not politically motivated and had no connection to any electoral ambition, stressing that it was purely a goodwill initiative aimed at motivating the drivers and easing the challenges associated with vehicle maintenance.
“Commercial drivers play a vital role in transporting people and information across the state. This support is our way of acknowledging their contribution and standing with them,” he said.
The beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful, particularly in the face of rising vehicle maintenance costs. They pledged continued support for the state government and commended the SSA for the thoughtful initiative.
The exercise reflects the administration’s commitment to inclusive support and community-focused interventions, reinforcing the bond between government officials and key stakeholders at the grassroots level.
